Appointments (Wait and Return)
Taking people to appointments such as ECT, the dentist or hospital clinics – staying with them throughout, then bringing them safely back.
Many of the people we support need to attend appointments away from their ward or placement – ECT treatment, the dentist, outpatient clinics and other hospital appointments. Our appointment service, often called wait and return, means our crew takes the person there, stays with them throughout, and brings them back afterwards.
We plan each booking with the ward or team who request it: the appointment time and place, how long it is likely to take, and anything that helps the person feel settled. That way they know who is coming, when, and what will happen.
During the appointment our crew stays close by, so the person is never left waiting on their own and the journey back can start as soon as they are ready. An appointment can be a worrying time – a calm, consistent presence from door to door makes a real difference.

When you book
Let our control room know the appointment time and address, roughly how long it will take, and any needs or risks we should plan for. That helps us send the right crew and vehicle, and arrive in good time.
